Premier Marine Insurance’s policies for motor boats provide £3 million third-party liability cover for damage you may cause to any other property and cover in Europe for up to 30 days. Your insurance will also cover stern drives and outboard motors whilst in use. When you choose a higher level of insurance cover, you have the option to add the extra features - as demonstrated above - and you can protect your No Claims Bonus if you have been insured for five years or more without a claim. You’ll also have the option to extend your policy further to include waterskiing and towing of toys liability cover, as well as additional overseas cover and cover for legal expenses that includes a 24 hour helpline.

If your boat is damaged whilst in your permanent marina berth you will not be charged an excess and it won’t affect your No Claims Discount.  For Premier Berth Holders there are additional exclusive benefits – find out more below.

MOTOR BOAT INSURANCE EXCLUSIONS

The following exclusions apply:
  • Wear and tear
  • Corrosion
  • Loss of value because of age and use
  • Loss of value to your boat after it has been repaired
  • Scratching, denting or bruising while your boat is being transported

Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Eire, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal (excluding Azores), Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including coastal waters of Canaries, Madeira, and the Balearics), Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vatican City

MOTOR BOAT INSURANCE FAQs

Q. Does this Motor Boat policy include waterskiing?
A. No, not as standard however, waterskiing liability cover can be included as an optional extra. If you would like to tow skiers please make sure that you take the option for waterskier’s liability. This will cover the third party liability to, and caused by, anyone being towed behind your boat (up to a maximum of two people). It will also include wakeboards and inflatable toys with a capacity for up to two people.

Q. Am I covered if I take my sports boat or motor cruiser outside of the UK?
A. You are covered for up to 30 days whilst in Europe. If you have the opportunity to take your boat out for longer, please speak to one of our specialist advisors to ensure that you get cover for the period you require.

Q. My policy has an excess, does it increase if I damage my boat’s underwater stern gear?
A.  If you choose our Platinum cover there is no increased excess for this type of claim; the excess is double for claims with Gold cover.

Q. Do I need a specific wheel clamp for my trailer?
A. Your marine dealer or chandler should be able to recommend a secure product. We do not insist on specific manufacturers, but it should be a recognised make, preferably with a "Sold Secure" logo.

Q. I have a second home in Spain. Can I leave my boat there all year round?

A. As long as you tell us and we approve the security arrangements, your boat will be covered – this would usually attract an increased premium.

Q. What's the policy excess?
A. You can choose the excess you want to meet your needs. Just ask us for details.

How to make a claim
Simply call us on 0344 770 1092 or email enquiries@premiermarineinsurance.co.uk. We'll talk through the details of your claim and the next steps to guide you through the process to settlement.

There are no claim forms to fill in, only a Statement of Fact form which is completed by your claim handler over the phone at the time of the notification of the claim. You'll then receive a completed form for your records via email.

Backed by our research that over 91% of people responding to a questionnaire about their claims experience are happy with our service, we're justly proud of our claims assistance.

In line with our service pledge, we will act within 24 hours of being notified of your claim and within five days if you provide us with new information on an existing claim.

Most importantly, when your claim is settled we will ensure speedy payment by BACS straight in to your bank account or by CHAPS to the supplier.
